Clowanstown 3, County Meath, Ireland

Trench 2, Clowanstown 3

Full resolution of the site occurred in August 2006 and revealed two shallow, oval hearths (2.20m by 1.00m by 0.20m deep and 0.89m by 0.43m by 0.15m deep) filled with burnt stone and charcoal and one of which was located in an earlier tree bole. These hearths may have functioned as prehistoric ovens or meat roasting pits.
